Functional Skills courses in Maths and English

In conjunction with Hertfordshire Adult and Family Learning, we are offering City and Guilds Functional Skills Courses in Maths and/or English for parents and carers who do not currently have a GCSE qualification in these subjects. The courses offer a chance to develop your skills in a relaxed and fun way, working in a group with similar interests and gain a nationally recognised City and Guilds qualification. Both courses run weekly over 24 weeks of the school year. Exams are taken during and at the end of the course so learners will need to be able to attend the course every week.

Learners will be assessed at the beginning to see whether they should enter at level one or level two. A level two pass is equivalent to a grade 4 pass at GCSE )(previously a pass at grade C). Students achieving a level one pass may wish to continue studying to take the level two examination.

NB There is a registration charge of £5 per learner per course.

We are intending to hold an Introduction and Information session for anyone who is interested in enrolling on the 24 week English Functional Skills course to come along, meet the tutor, ask questions and find out if this is the right course for you.  If not, we will direct you to courses that will be suitable. Your skills will be assessed and you will progress at an appropriate level.  *You may need to start at Level 1 rather than Level 2.

To register your interest in either of these courses contact or call 01727 754113.
